Ellie rolled her eyes. "Oh Mom, you know it's true.

He's always trying to cause trouble."

"He's just lively," Peggy said to a chorus of snorts.

"Lively is the least of his traits," Jack said. "He's a menace."

At Morgan's raised eyebrows, Shae leaned closer.

"Davie is a nightmare. Even his parents can't give him away."

"Is he… is he all right?" Morgan asked, not sure what the protocol was for asking if he had some sort of learning difficulty.

"He's been diagnosed with ADHD," Ellie said, overhearing Morgan's question. "He's not on medication because Lynda hates the idea of him being doped up."

"I agree with her," Peggy said. "They are stuffing kids full of medication far too early these days."

"In the meantime, Davie's school and social life suffers," Ellie answered.

Morgan could tell the argument covered old ground.

After a while he tuned them out, turning back to Shae.

"Who's Teresa? I didn't know Chris had had another kid.

She must have picked up a recessive brunette gene along the way."

Shae stiffened, his body suddenly tense at the

mention of the little girl's name. "Teresa is adopted."
